William H. Davis
Bill Davis is a trial and appellate lawyer, based in Tallahassee, Florida. He practices law throughout the region, focusing on resolving disputes and protecting the rights and interests of individuals, families, and small businesses. As such, and for over thirty years, he has been continually and actively engaged in a diversified legal practice, including criminal defense (state and federal, misdemeanor and felony), civil litigation (personal injury, wrongful death, products liability, business disputes), and administrative litigation (professional licensure, lawyer discipline, Bar admission). He also enjoys appellate work, and he has handled civil and criminal trials and appeals from or to every court, from the lowest to the highest, in the Florida and the Federal judicial systems.
Bill received his Juris Doctor degree with high honors from the Florida State University College of Law, in 1977. While in law school, he was employed by FSU as a legal writing instructor and he served as Notes & Comments Editor of the FSU Law Review and as Chief Justice of the Student Supreme Court. In undergraduate school, Bill was President of Student Government and Chairman of the State Council of Student Body Presidents for the State University System.
Bill recently served as President of the Florida Bar Foundation (2005-06) and as a member of The Bar's Civil Rules Committee (2008-10). He is presently a Member of the Board of Governors of The Florida Bar and is Chair of The Trustees of the Endowment of The Florida Bar Foundation. He is an ex officio Member of The Florida Supreme Court Commission On Professionalism, and he is a Member of the Board of Trustees of The Florida Supreme Court Historical Society (Executive Committee). He chairs the Tallahassee Bar's Judicial Poll Committee for the Second Judicial Circuit.
Locally, Bill has served as President of Tallahassee Bar Association (1986-87), as Chairman of the Florida Bar's Second Circuit Grievance Committee, and as a member of the Second Judicial Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission.
He is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and he serves on the American Bar Association's Criminal Justice Section White Collar Crime Committee and on its Juvenile Justice Committee. In support of his civil practice, he is also a member of the ABA's Section on Litigation and of the ABA Forum on the Entertainment and Sports Industries (member, Music and Personal Appearances Committee).
Apart from his professional activities, Bill is certified in SCUBA Lifesaving and Accident Management; he is an active participant in the Gulf Winds Track Club; and he is an avid cook, hiker, fisherman and music buff. He has three young-adult children.
